A challenging opportunity exists for a geoscientific database professional to join a small team with responsibilities for developing and managing geoscientific data delivery systems and datasets.
NTGS undertakes pre-competitive geoscience programs aimed at increasing the intensity and effectiveness of exploration in the Territory and is responsible for delivering high-quality geoscience and prospectivity data and assessments for industry. NTGS also has a statutory role in managing and distributing all data and information relating to past exploration in the Northern Territory.
As custodian, the Database Geologist is responsible for data quality, growth and effective use of the geochemistry and drilling database. The successful applicant will also play a key role in providing input into an integrated geoscientific data model, data management strategies, and upgrading and developing other geoscience databases.
Relevant geological experience in an exploration or geoscientific organisation is essential.
Significant experience in database administration coupled with sound knowledge of data integrity issues and the ability to translate business requirements into business processes and systems is required. Strategic thinking, project management, awareness of data management trends and standards, high-level communication skills and a strong client focus are also essential.
Applicants will be required to possess professional knowledge and a high level understanding of complex relational data management models and spatial applications.
