Full-Time Senior GIS Developer
Job Description
Spatial Vision is a specialist GIS and IT consulting company operating from the Melbourne CBD. We are looking for a full time GIS developer whose duties will include GIS-related software development for desktop, web and mobile platforms and general GIS infrastructure deployment, configuration and administration.

Spatial Vision uses a wide range of GIS technologies, applying the best available for each project. This includes the ESRI ArcGIS range of software, as well as open source software such as GeoServer and LeafletJS. We use a range of development languages including HTML5/Javascript, Python and .NET and apply industry standard development and testing methodologies.

Key Selection Criteria for this position are:
- At least five year’s experience as a GIS developer in a commercial environment
- Experience in the development and implementation of mobile, desktop and web applications using ASP.NET, C#.NET, Python, HTML and Javascript.
- Experience in the design and development of GIS applications using the ArcGIS Javascript API, ArcObjects, and preferably open source mapping frameworks such as OpenLayers or LeafletJS
- Experience in best practice software development tools and approaches including source control, continuous integration, automated deployment and Agile
- Experience in the general use of GIS software such as ArcGIS and Quantum GIS
- Experience in the design and implementation of spatial databases such as ESRI geodatabases, SQL Server native spatial and PostgresSQL/PostGIS
- Experience in the installation and configuration of spatial servers such as ArcGIS Server and GeoServer
- Experience in the use of relational database management software, preferably including Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server; and the SQL language.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills for use both within the company and with clients
- Ability to prepare concise, high quality documentation.
- Tertiary qualifications in GIS and/or IT or equivalent experience
The following would be highly regarded:
- Experience in the design and implementation of information systems for natural and constructed asset management applications
A salary in the range of $70k to $80k plus super will be offered, depending upon skills and experience.
