Full-Time Geospatial Analyst – Bendigo

Job Description

$73,343 – $80,071 (APS 4plus Super and 10% BDCP)


The Role

As an APS 4 Geospatial Analyst you will be expected to perform a range of duties and roles to include the following:

  • Perform straightforward geospatial analysis and production tasks under general direction from supervisor, making decisions within defined parameters;
  • Contribute new ideas and identify opportunities to improve the work of the team;
  • Monitor task progress against performance expectation to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Use experience in Geographic Information Systems to maintain and enhance geospatial databases;
  • Apply knowledge and experience of geospatial analysis information and products to make recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Listen to stakeholders and understand the relationships between business priorities and tasks;
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities;
  • Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks and international and national standards;
  • Prioritise workload and monitor task progress in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to meet business objectives.

The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA).

This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.

Foundation GEOINT Production (FGP) is responsible for the production, acquisition, management and distribution of Foundation GEOINT to support Defences and National security interests. Foundation GEOINT is the geospatial data and products created to a specific standard and can add significant value to an activity that requires a geographic location. This includes maps, charts, imagery, elevation and feature data that are considered essential in Defence capability and high level decision making.
