Fixed Term Full Time until July 2022 <br><br>
PTA Level 4, $82,351 pa (plus 9.50% super)

About the Role:

Electrical Safety Victoria has contracted CFA to provide Electrical Line Clearance spatial data. This position will support CFA in the creation, acquisition, coordination and maintenance of relevant spatial data as part of the Community Safety team. This data will be used across within CFA and ESV by a range of systems and integrates with mapping and spatial analysis activities at CFA. In addition, selected data is published externally for use by other agencies/bodies.

In this key role you will ensure that spatial data produced is fit for purpose. You will provide regular reports regarding the status of spatial datasets, data policies, procedures, and license agreements and maintain up-to-date knowledge of data preparation, conversion and management techniques. You will develop and/or maintain specific datasets which CFA is obliged to produce for ESV; assist in the ongoing development of the Community Safety specific data tools such as Targeted Properties and assist the Manager in the provision of specialist advice for the effective management and use of spatial data in CFA activities. Further, detailed responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of timely operational support as a member of a mapping support team during major incidents. This may involve being on-call.
  • Maintaining a high-level knowledge of spatial solutions and their potential application at CFA.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of spatial policies and procedures as required.
  • Participating in mapping support activities during emergency events.
  • Supplying spatial data to external Agencies where appropriate.

About You:

To succeed in this important role, you will demonstrate superior experience with the practical application of spatial technologies as well as strong exposure to the use and application of GIS software such as MapInfo and/or ESRI ArcGIS. You will have an awareness of issues involving the development and maintenance of seamless state-wide spatial datasets such as data preparation, data management, metadata and coordination systems as well as knowledge of issues involving the application of spatial technology within the emergency services industry. Relevant tertiary qualifications are a clear preference and you will have a high level-written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
